— How it works

Rupees = amount × (units per amount) × the currency’s INR rate, then expressed in crore/lakh. The exchange rate is a daily snapshot.

Big foreign figures, read the Indian way

International money is quoted in million and billion; Indian money is read in lakh and crore. So when a foreign salary, deal or valuation lands, the instinctive question is “how much is that in crore?” This tool does both steps at once: it applies the exchange rate to convert the currency to rupees, then expresses the rupee figure in the Indian number scale — and shows the full number in both digit groupings so the commas line up.

Worked example — $50 million at 1 USD = ₹83.5: 50,000,000 × 83.5 = ₹4,17,50,00,000 = ₹417.5 crore. Going the other way, ₹417.5 crore ÷ 83.5 ≈ $50 million.

Rupees to dollars: lakh crore and trillion

Flip the direction to INR → Currency and the tool runs the reverse — rupees to dollars — which is the natural question for India’s biggest figures: GDP, market capitalisations and the Union budget, all quoted in lakh crore. One fact makes the headline numbers easy: a lakh crore is exactly a trillion (₹10¹²), so “1 lakh crore rupees in dollars” and “1 trillion rupees in dollars” are the very same conversion. Switch to INR → Currency, enter the rupee amount, and read it in billion dollars.

Worked examples — at about 1 USD = ₹83: 1 lakh crore rupees = ₹10¹² ÷ 83 ≈ $12 billion. 1 trillion rupees = the same ₹10¹² ≈ $12 billion (1 lakh crore = 1 trillion). Set direction to INR → Currency, amount 1, unit “lakh crore”, result unit “billion”.

Two conversions in one — and the rate caveat

Converting a currency to crore is really two conversions stacked: a foreign-exchange step (currency → rupees) and a number-scale step (rupees → crore/lakh). The number-scale step is exact maths — fixed powers of ten — but the exchange-rate step is not: rates move constantly, and the figure here uses a once-a-day snapshot with no bank spread. So treat the crore figure as indicative; the rupee amount you would actually get on a transfer is a little lower once a provider’s margin is applied.

How much is 1 million dollars in crore?

At about 1 USD = ₹83.5, one million dollars is roughly ₹8.35 crore (1,000,000 × 83.5 = ₹8,35,00,000). Enter your amount and the live snapshot rate for the current figure.

How much is 1 billion dollars in crore?

At about ₹83.5 to the dollar, one billion dollars is roughly ₹8,350 crore (1,000,000,000 × 83.5 = ₹83,50,00,00,000). Use the converter for the exact snapshot value.

How much is 1 lakh crore rupees in billion dollars?

One lakh crore is ₹10¹² (one trillion rupees). At about ₹83 to the dollar that is roughly $12 billion. Switch the converter to INR → Currency, enter 1 with the unit “lakh crore”, and read the result in billions.

How much is 1 trillion rupees in dollars?

One trillion rupees equals one lakh crore (₹10¹²) — the same amount. At about ₹83 to the dollar that is roughly $12 billion. Use the INR → Currency direction for the live snapshot figure.

How do I convert crore back to dollars?

Switch the direction to “INR → Currency”. The tool then divides the rupee amount by the exchange rate and shows the result in the currency. For example, ₹417.5 crore ÷ 83.5 ≈ $50 million.

Is this the exact amount I would receive?

No — it uses a daily mid-market snapshot rate with no spread. A bank or remittance service adds a margin, so the rupees actually credited are a little less. Use it as a reference figure.
